Blemishes be gone...and be quick about it!!!

Tuesdays are all about Beauty/Fashion...so today I'm focusing on Beauty...

...and the Bottom Line is...

Ever have those times when your face seems to not want to cooperate with your events planned. What I mean is simply this...you have a big presentation at work, a party that's been planned for weeks, a first date, a wedding for example and your skin has looked great and all of a sudden....BAM (yes, just like Emeril says) there's an ugly breakout. Well, how do you fix this little unwanted blemish and visitor?

Here are some of the best tried and true methods and products to use and clear it right up in no time...

Mario Badescu excellent spot treatment made with a blend of Calamine and Salicylic Acid to clear up and soothe unsightly whiteheads overnight. A dab of this lotion will heal and dry pimples quickly. Order online for only $17.00. I have personally been to this spa in New York City and used this product and believe me...it works! More info here...http://www.mariobadescu.com/productDetail.asp?ProductID=151&CatId=14

Boo Boo Zap by Benefit Cosmetics. This potent blend of salicylic acid and camphor helps fight skin blemishes with lightning speed. Dab this quick drying zapper onto blemishes several times a day to help take the red out... even through makeup. It also works great on in-grown hairs! Sells at http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B000FBLTDG/ref=sr_11_1/002-9641639-6338449?ie=UTF8&bcBrand=core&nodeID=APS for only $20.00. Yes, I have used this as well and it, too, is an excellent overnight spot treatment for those unsightly blemishes. You can also purchase this, along with many, many more beauty products online at http://www.sephora.com/.

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel is a maximum strength acne treatment that clears breakouts fast and helps prevent emerging breakouts before they become visible
This breakthrough formula features MicroClear, a proprietary technology with micro-spheres containing a powerful acne-fighting medicine that penetrates through plugged pores and gets deep into pores. Most see results in 8 hours. Now this one I havent tried but will pick it up on my next visit to Walgreen's. See more details here...http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?id=prod400751&CATID=100303&skuid=sku400752&V=G&ec=frgl_653279&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=sku400752. This can be purchased at many local retailers and grocery stores or you can buy directly at http://www.walgreens.com/. What a steal for only $7.99!

I hope one of these will help you with your unwanted little visitor to the beautiful landscape that is our face and get you on your way to having fun and experiencing life without the worry of a silly blemish! Ciao!!

Neighborhood Party

Entertaining this weekend? Well, here are some ideas to get you started...

...and the Bottom Line is...

This summer we put together a Meet the Neighbors Party at our home in our new neighborhood and invited a few of our friends and family to join in on the fun.

In order to make this happen and not break the bank, ask guests to bring their favorite appetizer and/or beverage. What we did was smoke a Boston butt for BBQ sandwiches, added some hot dogs to the grill for the kids and provided homemade sangria and sodas. I also made some desserts and had a couple others bring desserts to round out the menu choices. It was a hit with the new neighbors and our friends and family had fun too!

The Sangria was all gone! Here's the recipe I used

Here are some additional recipes I also used:

Oatmeal Craisin Cookies (World's Best)

Soft, Chewy Sugar Cookies

Magnolia's Vanilla Buttercream Frosting (for all cupcakes)

Chocolate Cupcakes

We also used paper lanterns tied around for decor (these were from our Wedding) and with a couple extra tables and chairs and some long burning candles in sand in mason jars and metal tiki torches around to keep the bugs away, we had quite the ambiance on our back patio.

For kids entertainment, we setup a croquet set and had wiffle balls and golf clubs, lots of bubbles and bubble blowers and footballs etc. This kept the kids entertained while the adults were able to meet and visit with each other. For music, we created a summer party playlist on our IPOD and it kept the party lively all night.

I used http://www.evite.com/ for those I had e-mail addresses for and the neighbors each received a flyer with our family pic from the beach last year on it inviting them to attend. We also put a reminder in their mailbox the day before also. Even those who could not make it were impressed and thankful for our planning and reaching out!

We planned this at the last minute (only 1 week out) and had over 60 people show up! It's fun and don't be afraid to step out and take the initiative in your neighborhood! Summer's not over yet, so get entertaining!! Ciao!

Wine Anyone?

Thursday...ahhh...the week's almost over and how about a nice glass of vino? Well, today is all about Wine.

...and the Bottom Line is...

Back in January of 2008, my husband and I traveled to San Francisco and visited a lovely new Wine Bar called BIN 38 (http://www.bin38.com/). We loved the location and were able to taste many different types of wine all while enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and a few tasty small plate appetizers as well.

Our favorite by far was 2004 Fetish "The Watcher" -- 100% Barossa Vally Shiraz. As a proprietary brand Joshua Tree Imports with Rolf Binder as winemaker, this boasts complex fruit aromas, soft tannins and a long finish. No sharp edges here.

You can find this at many of your local wine shops and restaurants. At a retail price of less than $20 this is worth a taste and I wonder if you'll agree with us that this is definitely one to remember!

Thanks for checking in and have a glass for me too! Ciao!
